File Extension .Pages

Files with a PAGES file extension are associated with the Apple Pages software. Apple Pages is an application is a word processing and page layout program developed by Apple as a part of their iWork Productivity Suite. This application produces files with a PAGES file extension. These PAGES files are based on an XML file format and may contain various word processing data from basic text documents to complicated multiple-pages brochures. There are more than a hundred pre-built templates that can be used in this software. These templates are also saved in files with PAGES file extension.

The contents of a PAGES file may include but is not limited to texts, images, tables, graphs, charts and many more. PAGES files can be created from scratch or from a blank page when a user opens the Apple Pages software or he can opt to use one of the templates saved with the application. PAGES files are usually ZIP files or archived files that contain several files including a PLIST file, an XML file, a PDF file and a JPG file.

Since the PAGES file extension is a proprietary of Apple Inc and its Apple Pages software, only Apple Pages is made to open and modify a PAGES file. There is however an application in Windows that can view the contents of a PAGES file and that is the EZ Freeware Free Opener.
